I have known Alissa over many years from when I first came to Aptos. One of the 1st memories was a Purimshpiel some of us did at her house, where we dressed up and acted out the story. Over the years I visited her at home where we would share and she would tell me about her spiritual journeys and seeking. Also she participated in programs I did at Sunshine Villa on Jewish holidays. She came to my Succah and also I remember taking walks with her near her house and also near mine in Rio del Mar. When she moved to the care facility, I visited her there where we would look at old photos from her life which she much enjoyed and I felt how she smiled and seemed peaceful in spite of her physical situation. It was good she was near the window which was important for her to see nature, one with her artistic sensitivities. I feel her smiling, peaceful and loving spirit specially from that time in the Care facility.
Blessings to all the family both here and in Canada.

Alissa lead a dream group in the 1970's for a group of high school students. I was one of these girls. Her insights into what the dream means to each of us was powerful.
I came from a pretty dysfunctional home & the knowledge that I gained started to help me understand my life and grow confident.
She was one of my most important mentors and also had me over at their home often.Luin her daughter was also one of my closest friends growing up.♡
I see Alissa as a guiding light that God & the universe gave me as a gift. ♡☆♡

I only just now have found this obit, but would like to extend my deepest condolences to Alissa's family. Alissa and my mother were friends for many years, and I fondly recall Alissa visiting our home in Massachusetts with her daughter Luin, as well as other visits when I was younger. Alissa was an amazingly talented photographer, and had taken many pictures of my brothers and me that truly captured our natures! She had a deeply intuitive sense of people, nature, textures, colors... and she was adept at capturing them through the camera's lens as easily as she did with paint, ink, and other art media.
One of my mom's prized possessions was a watercolor that Alissa had painted of a country road in Westchester County, NY, where my mother worked as a school psychologist in Chappaqua. When my mother passed away in 2012 (at age 91... she and Alissa were born the same year), the painting became mine. Now it is my treasured possession, along with a book of photos Alissa had composed of my brothers and me, printed and bound with a spiral binding on photo board, and presented to my mom.
Alissa was a true artist, facile in many mediums. I am happy to learn that she lived to a very ripe age, enjoyed her life, travels, children and grandchildren, and remained creative and productive throughout her life. May her memory always be a blessing to her family, friends and all others who knew and cared about her.
