Obituary of Harry Shiplacoff

Harry Shiplacoff died on Tuesday morning in his Santa Cruz home. He is now dancing with Zelda, his beloved partner of 67 years. Born Harold Shiplacoff, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Tillie and Sam Shiplacoff and siblings with Seymour, Sylvia and Irene. Harry and Zelda raised two devoted daughters, Ellen and Pamela, who gave them four extraordinary grandchildren, Casey, Chelsey, Megan and Henry. Harry and Zelda moved to Santa Cruz in 1987 to be closer to their family. Harry was well known for his extraordinary sense of humor, his kindness and the twinkle in his eye. He was a passionate poet and photographer. At 98, Harry could still make you laugh with a new joke. He was always incredibly appreciative of life, his family and fresh baked goods. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Harry is survived by his two daughters, son-in-laws, Ian, Ralph and Bernd, his grandchildren and his grandson-in law, Talal. He lived a long, incredible life. Harry was and is unforgettable.
