Obituary of Shawn L. Hegarty

Shawn L. Hegarty, 54, passed away in Santa Cruz after a brief illness. She was born in Charleston, SC and came to California in 1962 and to Santa Cruz in 1977. She graduated from Harbor High in 1979 and later worked in the foreclosure business for 10 years. After her son, Sean was born, she became a stay-at-home mom. She is survived by her son Sean Hegarty of Santa Cruz, brother Bill Ross (Robin) of Escondido and her two sisters, Dawn Locatelli (Sal) and Robin Hart (Rob), both of Santa Cruz. Shawn is also survived by her two nephews, Nicholas and Neil and niece, Toni, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, her many friends and her beloved black lab, Elvis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rod and Maggie Aycock. Shawn was a great dog lover and will be greatly missed in her neighborhood. A graveside service will be held for her at Oakwood Memorial Park,. 3301 Paul Sweet Road on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 1PM where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. A reception will follow at the Oakwood Reception Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions preferred to your local SPCA.
