Obituary of Juan R. Majan

Juan R. Majan passed away peacefully Wednesday June 15, 2016 surrounded by his immediate family at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital.
Juan was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California. He then joined the US Army at a young age from 1967-1969. He was honorably discharged with Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Airborn Medal.
Juan returned home to raise a family with Kathy Carson. He had 2 sons and 1 daughter. He went to Cabrillo College and became a mechanic for over 25 years. He was known in the community as the best Honda mechanic around. He loved to fish, ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, loved his dogs dearly and spent endless time with his family. Juan was a chapter member of Viet Nam Vets Motorcycle Club for 25 years. He facilitated years of Toy Runs for Toys for Tots. He helped many Veterans and homeless Veterans throughout the years.
Juan leaves behind his daughter, Amy R Majan; step Daughter, Layla Bautista; Brother, Edward Nisperos; Brother, Ben Majan; nephew, Joe Tuscano; nieces Cynthia and Tina; Cousin, Dolly; God Daughter, Juanita Carmona; and grandchildren Aneica, Anthony, Isabel, and Kaylee as well as numerous nephews and cousins from the Bay Area, and last, but not least, his baby dog Niki.
He is preceded in death by his father, Toburcio Majan; mother, Marion Potts; sisters, Sandra Tumbaga and Barbara Tuscano; and sons, Juan Majan "Johnny" and Terry Majan. A public viewing will be held on Monday June 20th from 5-7 pm with a Rosary to follow at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz. Interment will be Wednesday June 22 at 10am at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2271 7th Avenue, Santa Cruz.
