Obituary of Elizabeth Halterman

Elizabeth "Betty" Halterman, lifelong Santa Cruz resident, passed away on Memorial Day 2016. Born in the Seabright Sanitarium on July 30, 1921, Betty lived her whole life in the Seabright area. She loved the community and her many friends from this close neighborhood. She went to Gault School, Santa Cruz High School, and then San Jose State during the early war years. In the late 1930s, she met the love of her life, Robert Halterman, and they spent the rest of their lives together with last 30 years in the house that her father, Jack Norton, had built on 4th Ave. in 1906. She was a devoted reader, and spent much of her working life with the Santa Cruz Public Library. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and is survived by her sister, Ann, of Belvedere, CA and her sons, Rick and Jack Halterman, both of Santa Cruz. Her last years were spent at the Watsonville Post Acute Center and her family would like to thank the wonderful staff, for all their care and support. In lieu of flowers or other tributes, the family would like memorial donations made to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
