Obituary of Telford Monroe Marsh

Telford Monroe Marsh, 92, of Scotts Valley, CA, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Telford was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on January 19, 1924. After graduating from high school he moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Telford worked as a riveter for Glenn L. Martin Company in Baltimore, building aircraft until being drafted by the US Army in 1943. He served in the 760th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A, in New Guinea, The Philippines, and Japan. Telford was married to Alleene Kesler on December 7, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia; they were married for more than 67 years. They met as pen pals during World War II, when he was stationed in the Pacific with Alleene's cousin. He worked as a route salesman for Green Spring Dairy for 31 years rarely ever missing a day's work. After he and Alleene moved to Roseville, CA, he continued working as a medical courier for LabCorp for another 15 years. Telford enjoyed weekly family barbecues and card games; also taking his sons, Danny and David, on bowling outings, movies and Oriole baseball games. Other favorite times were summer gatherings on his wife's family farm in West Virginia, with all the homemade ice cream you could eat!! He was an avid reader and cooked a mean meatloaf and mashed potato dinner. Telford is survived by his son David and wife Patricia, of Aptos, CA, several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Telford is preceded in death by his wife Alleene, son Daniel, brother Harrison, and sister Eileen. At Telford's request no services are planned at this time. Burial will take place at a later date in Cass, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Santa Cruz County. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living for the compassionate care and laughter they shared with Dad the last few years.
