Obituary of Laura M. van Lienden

Services for Laura van Lienden will be at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street Extension on Graham Hill Rd, Thursday June 9 at 11:00 A.M. Laura, a long- time resident of Aptos, passed away at home surrounded by family on May 30 following a short illness. Laura was born Laura Schultz in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sept 22, 1951. She is survived by her husband Mike of 45 years, by five sisters, Judy Burkell, Linda Di Lorenzo, Phyllis Longbons, Winifred Sloan and Virginia Wilder, a brother Bruce Schultz, and their spouses. Her parents, Herman and Rose Schultz, preceded her in death. Laura was a staple at the Santa Cruz Veterinary hospital, having worked there for 39 years. She could often be seen riding her bike in Santa Cruz County. She has ridden across the U.S. and up the length of the Mississippi River on some of her long-distance exploits. Motorcycling was also a passion for her and she spent many hours on the back of a road bike touring the country. The desert southwest was a favorite. She was an ardent race fan attending numerous motorcycle races in California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado with her husband Mike. Laura will be greatly missed.
