Rik's charitable choices have made the world a better place. He helped others, including people in distant corners of the world who have no clean water. He supported Solar Cookers International so people could pasteurize their water, and he made the world nicer. We are saddened today to hear of his passing. Our condolences go to the family.
May the sun shine on you, and all those you love.

On May 23rd, veterans and supporters will begin walking from Santa Cruz to Sacramento to raise awareness of veteran suicides. As part of our effort I am bringing a scroll of names of veterans who have served, to be placed at the State Capitol with an honor guard.
It is my priviledge and honor to include US Marine 'Rik' Rosenlund on this Honor Roll and he will help sustain me on this 200 mile journey.
Semper Fidelis, brother Marine and may God bless you for your service to our nation.

Dear Rosenlund family,
The Thursday Night Crew will miss Rik very much. He was definitely " . . . charmingly crusty and fond of speaking unfashionable thoughts." These are two very important personality prerequisites for joining the Crew and Rik was our pillar. Rik passed on a tremendous amount of knowledge to us. He was extremely generous in thought and deed and all of his Crew benefited from his friendship.
Rik spoke frequently about his Marine Corps days but I never got an opportunity to see his USMC dress blue photograph, until it was posted in the newspaper. What a terrific photograph of a great, great man!
Peace and love from the Crew,
Adam

Isabelle, I'm so bad with computers that this is my second start on a comment. The first one seemed to have vanished. I was deeply saddened to hear of Rik's passing. My memories of him are multiple. He was unlike anyone in our circle of friends. As I said before he was charmingly crusty, fond of speaking unfashionable thoughts. His voice and manner of speaking were distinct. He liked to speak to one as if he were sharing a thought intended especially for you. I'm going to miss him very much. So is Peter, who enjoyed many chats with him at Manuel's.
