I just now learned of Bob's passing from a post about his memorial dance. I so enjoyed dancing with Bob. He was attentive and thoroughly happy. Upon finding the obituary of a different Bob Fitch online many years ago, I frantically searched to determine if it was him - nope. I reached out to him with that story, and he invited me to drop by sometime. When I did, he made me breakfast. I will miss his kind and generous spirit. -- Jen Bamesberger

Bob was generous in ways that many people in his position often are not --with his photography and his time. Many of his photographs are etched in my memory and are such an important aspect of our social and political history. I am very sorry for your loss and I thank you for sharing Bob with our community.

My husband Charles and I lived next door to Bob since 2006 when we bought houses here in Watsonville. Bob has been a kind, compassionate, and friendly neighbor and was of great encouragement to me when Charles died in March of 2015. He played his guitar and sang and offered me words of peace. I also enjoyed some of the veggies and lemons from his garden. I will miss my dear neighbor and good friend.

Not mentioned in all the obituaria: Bob's connection with/disconnection from the church - an ordained clergyman no less! Way back in the 60's Bob and I worked together as co-clergy in the North Oakland Ecumenical Parish, where the Black Panther Party was born and flourished in our midst - a radicalizing influence on both of us. Spanning the decades, in the mystery of fate, both of us ended up in Watsonville, another place of serious struggle for justice. I count myself among myriads of others who are grateful to the Creator for Bob Fitch, one of the finest examples of divine creation.

Ah, Bob! You were my model for song leading at a rally, for stirring up the enthusiasm and spirit of a crowd! You could boom it out and ham it up, adding that extra pizazz to a song.
With the support of the Sacramento Labor Chorus, we started the monthly sing-along circles that continue to this day in the greater Sacramento area -- bringing folks together to sing songs old and new.
My condolences to the family, and I do hope you understand: Bob's passing is a shared loss. His family was the human family.

Just not fair! The person I would go to to help me adjust to such a substantial loss in my life, to seek the wisdom to learn from the loss, would have been Bob.
