Obituary of Carlo Peter Gemignani

Carlo Gemignani passed away peacefully Sunday morning on March 13th at the age of 83. Carlo was born in San Francisco, California on May 31st, 1932 to Laurel Gemignani and Natalina Ercoli. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a PHD in Anthropology and went on to teach at the University of West Virginia in 1965. While at church one Sunday he met Elizabeth Terlesky, were married 5 months later and inseparable for the next 48 years.
After their first son John was born, they drove to the West Coast and settled in Santa Cruz to raise their family. Carlo went to work as a lab biologist for Castle and Cook for the next 17+ years having three more children, Frank, Adele and Monya. Following Castle and Cook he went on to work as a lab technician for the next 11 years until he retired.
Carlo enjoyed photography, gardening, Entomology, Botany, birdwatching and star gazing. Pretty much anything under a lens, microscope or in the dirt. He was an animal lover and had may pets over the years ranging from dogs, cats, guinea pigs and fish. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying the Latin languages such as Italian, Spanish and Portuguese and also spoke French. Over the years He enjoyed Sunday mass at various churches but settled in at St. Vincent de Paul Church with his wife where they were active members for 15+ years. His favorite vacation spot was Lake Tahoe and anywhere away from his kids. Carlo's favorite things include Bingo, the Bachelor, Bachelorette, donuts, chocolate, ice cream, coffee, tuna sandwiches, Taco Bell and KFC. He was a good father, husband and his family was his life. He is once again reunited with his wife Elizabeth. Carlo is survived by his children John, Frank, Adele and Monya; his brother Bob Gemignani, niece and nephew. Services will be held on April 22nd at 2pm at Santa Cruz Memorial.
