Obituary of Roy C. Buts

Roy was born to parents, Johannes and Johanna Buts on May 10, 1957. A lifelong resident of the Bay Area, he attended Lincoln High School in San Jose, before embarking on a 43 year career as a baker, 28 of them in Capitola, crafting delicious treats and delicacies for the Santa Cruz community. Those who knew Roy understood his passion for baking, but also knew the man behind the desserts- he was a esteemed member of Saint John's Catholic Church in Felton for many years, and he also found time to enjoy the simple things in life, like watching a full throttle, high speed Nascar race or exploring the tranquility of the natural wonderland on his Mountain Bike. But most of all, Roy was a loving husband, a devoted father and always put his family first. He is preceded in death by his father, Johannes Bernardus Buts. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Barone-Buts, his children, Ashli and Cameren, his mother, Johanna Buts, his siblings, Joyce Campbell, Robbie Buts, Else Ritchey and Herman Buts, mother-in-law, Candy Barone, and sister-in-law, Lori Espinoza. He will truly be missed. Services will be held Saturday, March 19th at Saint John's Catholic Church, 120 Russell Avenue in Felton at 11:00am.
