Susana Brown, a dedicated bilingual teacher in Santa Cruz for 15 years, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016. Born in Malaga, Spain on December 21, 1969 to an English father and a German mother, she came to the States as a teenager to study. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in History and a Master's in Education. She made Santa Cruz her home and began her career as a teacher, first at Freedom School in Watsonville and then at Gault Elementary in Santa Cruz.
Susana was devoted to her daughter, Triana and her sister, Sonia. She was beloved by her students and a wide circle of friends. She loved the outdoors and was a keen hiker, cyclist, runner and swimmer.
A memorial Service will be held at the Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel located at 3301 Paul Sweet Road in Santa Cruz on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM
