Obituary of Elsie Marie King

Elsie ('L.C.') Marie King, 84, died peacefully on January 26th in the home of her daughter in Santa Cruz, CA after a 6 year battle with Alzheimer's. Born November 5, 1931 in Chewton, PA, she was the youngest daughter of the late Frank & Carmela Sbarro. She graduated from Wampum High in 1949. She and her former husband relocated to Santa Cruz, CA in 1959, where Elsie became a homemaker and a stay at home mom to her three children. In 1970 Elsie started a lengthy career in retail sales working for J.C. Penney's, Sears, Longs Drugs and CVS. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Capitola and spent a great deal of her time volunteering for Grey Bears of Santa Cruz. Elsie enjoyed cooking, baking, needlepoint and watching sports. She was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (King) McClellan; son-in-law, Thomas McClellan; and 5 grandchildren: Parker & Makenzie McClellan and Alisha, Jacob & Joshua King. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler McClellan; daughter, Cathy King-Boysol; son, John King; four brothers and three sisters. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd from 5-7 PM at Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Memorial Chapel at 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park, graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz or California Grey Bears.
