Obituary of Jeannette Elizabeth Mariner
Please share a memory of Jeannette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jennie Mariner was born in Santa Cruz at Dominican Hospital to John and Jean Mariner. Jennie was raised in Aptos and attended preschool at The Children's Cottage where she was nurtured and loved by the director, Judy McMillan. At the young age of 4, she started riding horses and rode in many horse shows at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds and The Graham Hill Show grounds. At eight years old she decided to learn Flamenco Dancing. For five years she danced her way through many shows and exhibitions, even making her own costume!
Jennie attended Mar Vista School, Aptos Junior High, and Aptos High School. At Aptos High she became involved in cheerleading and spent all four years as a cheerleader and became a captain her senior year. She was involved in cheerleading competitions and loved every minute of it! After graduation Jennie returned to Aptos High and became an Assistant Coach for the cheerleading team.
Jennie had a love for travel. In the sixth grade she went to Europe for three weeks, and took several trips to Mexico with her parents throughout the years to Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. One of her favorite things to do was to participate in the Aptos 4th of July Parade on the Aptos Times Float. You could not miss her happy face waving at all the spectators!
At the time of her passing, Jennie was attending Cabrillo College full time with a goal of becoming a nurse. She also worked at local restaurants, including Acapulco, Bocci's Cellar, and local catering companies.
Jennie was pre-deceased by her Paternal Grandparents, "CW" and Katherine Mariner, her Maternal Grandparents, William "Ole" and Elvira Andrew, her Uncle Jim Mariner, and her Uncle Jeff "Cowboy" Andrew. She is survived by her parents, John and Jean Mariner, Aunt and Uncle Bob Anderson and Liz Mariner, Aunt Jane Kling, Aunt and Uncle Jimmy and Dana Walker, Cousins Luanna McBride and Jessica Hedlund, fiancé Eric Poore, Aunt and Uncle Rod and Patrice Composti, and Cousins Courtney Dimpel, and Camisa and Wyatt Composti.
Jennie Mariner was a ray of sunshine. She lit up a room with her beautiful smile and vivacious, outgoing personality. She was a devoted and loyal daughter and dedicated to her many friends. Jennie Mariner will remain in our hearts forever.
