Obituary of Grace V. Clark
Please share a memory of Grace to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Grace V. Clark passed away from the mortal world after a valiant battle with cancer. She exhibited an inspiring mix of inner strength and graciousness. She follows her husband, James L. Clark, who passed away eight years ago.Grace was born in Winnepeg, Canada, immigrating with James to the United States and California in 1956. She was a friendly person who seemed to connect very well with people. Grace was always hospitable, with family and friends being the center of her life. She formed lasting friendships while living in San Rafael, Sunnyvale, Huntington Beach, Bodega Bay and finally Santa Cruz, where she moved to be near her children and grandchildren.Grace was a classic homemaker: sewing, canning and cooking. She was known within the family as the "Pie Queen". Grace also had a deep appreciation for beauty, particularly colors, which she manifest in gardening, home décor, her wardrobe and, later in life, painting. Her color of choice was lavender.Grace leaves behind her children Camille Clark-Laclergue and Derrick Clark and their spouses, Bruce Laclergue and Marilyn Clark. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Reg and Marlene Poole as well as her sister-in-law Margaret Hurl. She is also survived by her grandchildren Allison, Sarah, Melinda, and Anna. Grace was quite fond of her extended family of many nieces and nephews and their families.Grace and her family are deeply appreciative of the many individual medical practitioners and caregivers who assisted her with their authentic sensitivity, warmth and caring. Thank you. A celebration of Grace Clark's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 10, 2015 at the Crystal Chapel in Oakwood Memorial Park on Paul Sweet Road.
