We have enjoyed being neighbors with Lou and Dorothy for 21 Years. When our children were little they called Lou The Farmer. He was quite interesting to them. We would talk most every day when he was out tinkering as we walked to and home from school. Lou and Dorothy have been great neighbors and we will miss seeing Lou through the front window as we pass by. We loved reading about his life and the adventures he had.

I was Louis last supervisor at the phone company. I knew Louis as quietly confident and a fine example of a man whom many learned from, including me. I remember Louis last day on the job. I drove out to meet him on a job in Rio Del Mar. I found him working twenty feet above the street on a pole. I waited silently below, watching him complete his work and climb down the pole, thinking to myself that he was quite an accomplished individual who had worked hard for many years. My condolences to his family.

I will always have great memories and a smile when I think of my grandfather. I think of when I stayed in the "old house" while I was in high school. I think of coming over early on a Saturday morning, watching sports, playing baseball in the back yard.
I was impressed with your hard work and your ability to fix things creative ways.
The times you came over to my dad's house and we watched sports, especially boxing.
The visits in the new house. Hearing about your life journey coming from Louisiana, WW II, the telephone company and so much more.
You had a wonderful life and will always be missed.
your grandson,
Steve Hungerford

My kids and I have been Lou and Dorothy's neighbors for over thirty years. I have always enjoyed gardening and Lou was so generous to let me have my garden each year in his field. He and I would talk about gardening and enjoyed sharing our harvests. He always let me pick fruit and let our kids and dog play in the field. He was a great neighbor and will be missed.
Thanks for everything Lou,
Martha Babatola and family

"Mr. Lou, is what my daughters and I called him in our neck of the neighborhood. My granddaughter, Bella enjoyed her youth playing in his field and helping Judy in his garden. She learned a lot! I would ask if I could have apples from his trees, he always said yes. Our dog Duke loved to sit with Mr. Lou and liked his apples too. I would ask him " How are you today?" He replied "pretty good for an old goat!" I will miss that and him.
Thanks for the good times,
Janice

Thinking of you all; Dorothy, Judy and Danny at this time of loss.
As a child I have fond memories running thru the tomato and cucumber fields that uncle Louie planted and picking blackberries along the fence. I also loved the stories he shared about he and my dad meeting up during WWII. What a long and wonderful life!!
