I just happened to run into Dave a few weeks ago at Home Depot, where we both commiserated about being gopher ranchers. I probably hadn't seen him in over 20 years. So glad I got that last hug in and we had a laugh.

Susann and family- Speaking for all of us in Peoples Pantry, we are so devastated with the loss of David. Since he volunteered with us, Dave was a great asset and faithful volunteer to the Wednesday morning pickups at 2nd Harvest, especially for me, personally. Dave would be the one who would help me load my truck and make sure we were finished before he left to meet us at Twin Lakes. We got to be good friends and I am going to feel his loss greatly. He was a considerate, thoughtful man, who dealt with his problems without it affecting his relationships with others. I always respected him for this. I will miss his talks about surfing in San Diego and the experiences he and Susann had in Mexico. I grieve, but because of his strong faith in the Lord, I have the hope of seeing him again one day. Most respectfully, Jack Spurlock

Dave,
You were the best person, great friend that taught me a lot. 2 Dave's , 1 Jim, an 1 Jer. are bad news. lol. You let me lose my first halibut, I guess too much vino. lol You taught me too mas power and you gave me sh** every morning about the brown brother having too much hate. My wife reminds me now. I will forever cherish the memories of Dave's Outboard and LaVars Bodyshop. By the way Jim, the gate is locked. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. RIP Dave
Love the Alvarez family

Dave you and the garage were part of our family for so many years. You treated my wife's 1966 VW like is was a Rolls Royce. When the 66 Bug had a problem you were always there with advice, humor and a solution.
I know a few years ago you retired but every time I go by the garage I think of all our visits and conversations about our military years, home building or whatever were our current challenges. Just so you know the 66 Bug is still running in large part because of all your good work.
I know life is defined by more that one's work, but Dave you were a great intersection of good work, a great laugh and a memorable personality. Dave, Marcella and I will always remember you and our 66 Bug will always be part of our family because of your good work.
