Bonnie Lucille Ross Grissom was the first child born to Charles and Elsie Ross in Wasco, California on August 10, 1923, and grew up in Bakersfield, California. Then she met a handsome sailor and travelled to Bremerton, Washington to marry him before he shipped out to the Pacific in September 1941. They had five children, Carolyn, Gayle, Joyce, Jack, and Pamela; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Bonnie could really play the piano and enjoyed playing at family occasions with everyone gathering around to sing. She loved to dance and garden. Bonnie sewed most of her family’s clothing. She could crochet and knit and was a talented needleworker. She created lovely articles of clothing and decoration. A mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Bonnie passed away under the loving care of her family in Santa Cruz. She was 99 years old.
