Mary Katherine Haynes, born on January 5, 1946, in San Jose, CA, passed away on March 9, 2022, in Capitola, CA. Mary grew up in San Jose, CA, the youngest child of Karl and Blanche Haynes and took pride in her California Pioneer heritage. She enjoyed her time at Samuel Ayers High School, graduating in 1964. In 1966, she married Walter W Henry III. After three children, the couple divorced. Mary went on to study, work, and raise her children as a single mother. She helped found EASE PD, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the Santa Cruz County Parkinson’s community. Mary was always more comfortable in a spiritual community, and was active in Episcopal, Unitarian, and other spiritual communities throughout her life. She worked at the Unitarian Universalist Churches of Davis and Palo Alto (1979-1985). Mary is survived by her three children (Kristin Henry, Katherine Ets-Hokin, and Ann Henry), and three grandchildren (Mathilda Chapin, Samantha Chapin, and Isaac Ets-Hokin). A memorial service will be held at 2pm on April 23, at The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, in Aptos California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to EASE PD (easepd.org).
